Why it matters: testing you can verify
This is the part I actually wanted to spend time on, because it’s the part that drives every decision we make about which compounds to carry, how we package them, and what gets put on the COA.
Every vial we ship gets tested
Every single vial that leaves our facility goes through our 7x baseline testing protocol — at minimum. That’s not a marketing tier. That’s the floor. Across the entire catalog, nothing ships without it.
And over 50% of our compounds are at the higher 14x tier: an 11-test panel covering purity, identity, quantity, sterility, endotoxins, heavy metals, residual solvents, conformity, TFA, solubility, and container closure integrity.

What each test actually catches
Researchers don’t need a primer on contamination — you live this. But it’s worth naming the failure modes explicitly, because every one of these is something that quietly invalidates research when you skip the test:
- Residual TFAÂ from synthesis is cytotoxic in cell culture and skews dose-response curves at higher concentrations. If you’re running cellular assays with peptide concentrations in the micromolar range, TFA residue can become the actual variable you’re measuring without realizing it.
- Heavy metals catalyze peptide degradation and confound binding studies — especially in metal-coordinating peptides like GHK-Cu and AHK-Cu, where copper is the entire mechanism. Trace heavy metals from manufacturing equipment can also produce unexplained toxicity in research models and skew enzyme kinetics work.
- Failed sterility means microbial contamination in your cell lines and in vivo models. Weeks of work down the drain when you catch it, confounded biology when you don’t. Bacterial proteins and endotoxins also produce real biological activity that looks like your compound is working when it isn’t.
- Industrial solvent residue — DMF, DCM, methanol, acetonitrile — is cytotoxic at low concentrations and produces false positives in cellular assays. Many synthesis processes use these solvents, and removing them down to safe limits requires deliberate testing for what’s left behind.
None of these get flagged on a Certificate of Analysis that only reports HPLC purity. They get flagged when somebody runs the full panel.
On sterility specifically: USP <71>, not USP <61>
This is the differentiator that most researchers don’t dig into until something goes wrong, so I want to be direct about it.
Every 14x batch we ship is sterility-tested to USP <71> at two independent ISO-17025 labs. USP 71 is the pharmacopeial sterility standard — membrane filtration or direct inoculation into culture media, with a 14-day incubation period. It’s the test that actually validates a product as sterile.
A lot of peptide companies in our category run USP <61> instead and label it as “sterility tested.” USP 61 is a microbial limits test — it counts colony-forming units up to a specified bioburden cap. It is not a sterility test. Different category of rigor entirely.
We test to USP 71. At two labs. Every 14x batch.

Every COA we publish is signed by the QC manager at the issuing ISO-17025 lab — currently Vanguard Laboratory (Olympia, WA) and Eagle Analytical Services (Houston, TX). That’s not internal review. That’s credentialed, third-party signoff on every result, attached to every certificate, archived in our searchable library at peptidology.co/certificates/.
