Hospira Bacteriostatic 0.9% Sodium Chloride Water is a clear, sterile saline solution containing 0.9% (9 mg/mL) sodium chloride in purified water with a small amount of bacteriostatic preservative—benzyl alcohol (~0.9%)—to inhibit microbial growth in multi‑use containers. The formulation is isotonic (about 300–310 mOsm/L), typically near‑neutral in pH, and colorless and free of visible particulates when intact. It is packaged to help maintain sterility and labeled with standard quality safeguards such as storing at controlled room temperature and discarding if the seal is compromised or the solution appears cloudy.
